This well-treed campground offers a private and peaceful setting for campers of all kinds, with a deep forest on the south end in the first-come, first-served section, transitioning to a wetland on the north end in the reservable section.

Lowhee Campground has 80 campsites, 47 of which can be booked in advance. It features a playground, three washroom buildings with flush toilets and potable water, as well as a coin-operated shower house. Bear-proof garbage and recycling bins are offered in central locations throughout the campground.

All campsites are equipped with a wheelchair-accessible picnic table and campfire ring. Campsites are an average of 50 feet long and 14 feet wide and can accommodate most trailers and RVs when backed into the sites. Pull-through sites are available in the Forest Rose Campground. Check the drop down menu for the individual site# for detailed information.

Lowhee Campground is located along the west side of Barkerville Highway, 2 km north of the Barkerville Visitor Centre. Guests can travel back and forth from the Historic Zone to Lowhee via the highway, or via a well-groomed walking path alongside the highway. Lowhee Campground is part of the 1,100-hectare property that forms Barkerville Historic Town & Park and is managed by Barkerville Heritage Trust. 

Types of Sites:

  • 30 amp: equipped with a 30 amp RV receptacle. Note that connection to other types of electrical plugs will require an adapter.
  • Full Service: offers water, sewer, and 30 amp power connections.
  • Double: can accommodate two trailers or RV units together. Powered double sites feature two receptacles.
  • Standard Cabins: Basic sleeping cabins that feature heat, power, a queen-sized bed, a mini-fridge, a small dining table, two chairs, and a porch. Guests are responsible for bringing their own bedding. Pets are not permitted in the cabins.

Forest Rose

This forested campground offers a sunny creek-side setting for campers of all kinds, with more trees and privacy on the north end in the first come, first served section, and sunnier pull-through sites on the south end in the reservable section.

Forest Rose Campground has 56 campsites, 26 of which can be booked in advance. It features a playground, and a washroom building with flush toilets, potable water, and coin-operated showers.  Bear-proof garbage and recycling bins are offered in central locations throughout the campground.

All campsites are equipped with a wheelchair-accessible picnic table and campfire ring. Campsites are an average of 55 feet long and 13 feet wide and can accommodate most trailers and RVs. Check the drop down menu for the individual site# for detailed information.

Forest Rose Campground is located off of the Bowron Lake Road, along the east side of Williams Creek and a stone’s throw from the Barkerville Highway. It’s 2 km north of the Barkerville Visitor Centre. Guests can travel back and forth from the Historic Zone to Forest Rose via the highway, or cross the highway on foot to access a well-groomed walking path. Forest Rose Campground is part of the 1,100 hectare property that forms Barkerville Historic Town & Park and is managed by Barkerville Heritage Trust.

Types of Sites:

  • 30 amp: equipped with a 30 amp RV receptacle. Note that connection to other types of electrical plugs will require an adapter.
  • Double: can accommodate two trailers or RV units together. 
  • Pull-through: can accommodate longer trailer or RV units without having to maneuver in reverse.

Government Hill

Available for entire site private bookings. Email Commerce Manager Rocky Nenka for more information.

Governmental Hill has 23 campsites and 8 cabins available to book, and is located within walking distance of historic Barkerville. Features include a playground, fire rings, picnic tables, pit toilets. Not suitable for large RVs or long units. Ideal for groups of 60 or less.

Note: Bookings for Government Hill are minimum two nights.
