COVID-19 Update: Due to the onset of the COVID-19 State of Emergency, tour and group bookings in 2020 and 2021 have been suspended.

Barkerville is fully equipped to support a wide range of visiting groups in an authentic, unique, world-class heritage site. We regularly host school groups, professional tour companies, and special events bookings. In addition to our spring and summer living history museum showcase, Barkerville now offers activities year-round, with the addition of winter recreation programs like ice-skating, snow shoeing and the Shamrock tube run. With so much to see, Barkerville offers everyone the freedom to play, learn and explore. Our staff are committed to providing you with the support you need to make your group visit to Barkerville a truly outstanding experience.

Students and youth groups can experience Barkerville’s history through the Barkerville Field Trip Program. We provide an engaging, hands-on approach to British Columbia’s gold rush history. Our educational programs, daily activities, and historic displays provide a tangible link to life as it was lived when Billy Barker’s mine was in full swing. It is an experience that young people won’t soon forget. Field trip groups can visit for a single day or stay overnight in the area and experience several enriched days of interactive B.C. history.

Field Trip opportunities in Barkerville are available year round, but the special interpretative programs available only to school groups run mid-May until the third week of June, Monday to Friday (except holidays). During the rest of the year, our regular public programming is available, including our new winter activities.

Barkerville Historic Town & Park launched its first winter recreation season program in 2016 to help expand the opportunities visitors have to discover the magic of Barkerville. The winter season offers visitors the benefit of a wide range of activities and spectacular winter landscape settings. Winter in Barkerville virtually guarantees snow.  The main attraction of our winter season is the Shamrock Tube Run, which offers conveyor lift access to two tube runs and over 400 feet of snow sliding fun.
