COMMERCIAL FILM AND PHOTOGRAPHY GUIDELINES

BARKERVILLE HISTORIC TOWN & PARK, COTTONWOOD HOUSE HISTORIC SITE
Barkerville and Cottonwood House’s heritage buildings provide picturesque opportunities for amateur and professional photographers and are both ideal authentic locations for filmmakers.  To care for these provincial heritage assets and ensure visitor experiences are not impacted, commercial film and photography activities have special considerations.

HOW TO APPLY
Commercial film and photography activities require approval by the Barkerville Heritage Trust.  Requests must be submitted a minimum of one month prior to the intended commercial film/photography activities to allow sufficient time for evaluation.  The Barkerville Heritage Trust reserves the right to deny requests that do not support its mandate, values, and operating principles. If requests are approved, a film/photography permit will be issued. Contact information for requests can be found below.

INSURANCE & FEES
Proof of comprehensive liability insurance policy must be received by the Barkerville Heritage Trust in order for the request to be complete.
Please note that a non-refundable fee may apply. Fees are assessed based on the scope, location and crew size associated with the project. Discounts may apply once the nature of the request has been evaluated.

AERIAL FILMING & PHOTOGRAPHY
Usage of aircraft, including Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs/drones) are restricted within the boundary of the Barkerville Heritage Trust’s historic sites. Additional information and/or permissions are required for all aerial filming requests. Further direction from the Barkerville Heritage Trust will be provided upon receipt of aerial filming requests.
