The Friends of Barkerville is a registered, non-profit organization comprised of dedicated volunteers. Our mandate is to “Preserve, Protect and Promote Barkerville and the surrounding Goldfields.”
For more information, visit the Friends of Barkerville website at www.barkerville.bc.ca.
Since our formation in 1985, the society has assisted in financing many of Barkerville’s upgrades and renovation projects such as the Cornish Water Wheel reconstruction, improvements to the cemeteries, the cataloging thousands of artifacts, historic trail development, and public awareness campaigns, just to name a few. The Friends of Barkerville are presently located in the Barkerville Hotel (Map #48). The Hotel is a great meeting place to just sit and chat, learn more about the area, watch the street performers have a game of pool, listen to some great piano tunes played by a local or maybe take in a book reading. We have a variety of merchandise for sale, most of which is hand made locally. Money earned from the retail store and from membership sales all goes back into Barkerville and surrounding area projects. Membership includes a season’s pass into Barkerville and several newsletters a year to keep you informed. Your support is greatly appreciated. For more information on memberships, contact the Friends of Barkerville.
